Home screen

The Home screen is displayed upon launch. From here you can:

Tap a category name to drill down a level.
Tap Show Nearest to load, into the compass, the 10 nearest locations across all categories combined.
Tap Settings to go to the Settings screen.

Lists screen

Displays all lists of the specified category. From here you can:

Tap Show Nearest ... to load, into the compass, the 7 nearest locations across all these lists combined.
Tap a list name to drill down further to the contents of the list.

Locations screen

Displays the locations making up the specified list. From here you can:

Tap Show Nearest ... to load, into the compass, just the 4 nearest locations from this list.
Tap a specific location to display it on the compass.

Compass mode

Consists of a compass disc and a 'road sign'. The sign represents the location, displays the distance to that location, and points in its direction. From here you can:

Navigate to the next/previous location in the list by tapping the arrow icons on the toolbar.
Display your current speed and course by tapping the 'walking man' button.
Manually orient the compass disc (see below).
Activate the radar (see below).

Compass mode (orientation)

If you have an iPhone 3GS, your compass will automatically orient itself. For iPhone 3G owners, GPS will be used, but you must be moving and have a clear view of the sky. In all other cases, manual orientation is needed, with help from the sun or moon:

Holding the iPhone level with the ground, and face-up, tap and hold any point on the compass disc.
An arrow will appear, along with an instruction to point the arrow towards the sun or moon.
Rotate the compass disc until the arrow points in the direction of the sun or moon, and then release.

Compass mode (radar)

Radar represents locations as dots on the compass disc. The nearest locations are closest to the disc's center. All locations on the list are displayed simultaneously.

Radar mode is a convenient way to select a new location in the list.
Enter radar mode by tapping and holding the sign's 'tail' (parallel white bars). The sign will be replaced by a thin line.
Slide the tail around the circumference of the disc. This will 'sweep' the radar, highlighting locations as the line intersects with them.
Release the tail once the desired location is highlighted.

Aerial mode (satellite)

Provides satellite imagery of the selected location. From here you can:

Navigate to the next/previous location in the list by tapping the arrow icons on the toolbar.
Pan and zoom.
Switch to map view by tapping the 'walking man' button (see below).

Aerial mode (map)

Shows, on a map, where you are relative to the selected location. From here you can:

Navigate to the next/previous location in the list by tapping the arrow icons on the toolbar.
Pan and zoom.
Switch to satellite view by tapping the 'walking man' button (see above).

Info mode

Provides location info in the form of Wikipedia excerpts.

Navigate to the next/previous location in the list by tapping the arrow icons on the toolbar.

Info mode (web links)

In addition to the preloaded Wikipedia excerpt for each location, Adventurer provides web links to:

The original Wikipedia article for the location.
A Britannica article for the location (not available for all locations).

This menu is accessed by tapping the curved arrow graphic to the left of the location name.
